Alpaca Fleece

Alpaca fleece is a soft, luxurious, natural biodegradable fibre harvested from an alpaca. Often refered to as the fibre of the gods alpaca fibre is a softer than merino and cashmere and with superior strength per finess. While similar to sheep's wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypollergenic. Most people who are sensitive to wool find that they can wear alpaca without the itching or irritation that they feel from wool because alpaca fibre is smooth.Alpaca fibre is naturally water-repellant and difficult to ignite as well as being stain resistant.

Alpaca comes in 16 natural colours which accept both natural plant based and acid dyes. It is very environmentally friendly being a natural fibre requiring very little chemical treatment. With softly padded hooves which reduce their environmental inpact the eating and drinking habits of alpacas also make them very environmentally friendly compared to other livestock.

Waratah Alpaca Fibre is able to supply this premium fibre in all colours and classes in a raw, scoured or carbonised form.
